Serial Shipping Container Code (SSCC)

What is an SSCC number?

The Serial Shipping Container Code is a globally unique and non-overlapping number to identify a shipping unit, such as a carton, pallet or container. It enables shipments to be tracked from sender to recipient.

The SSCC is assigned once and can be used without interruption by all parties involved in the transport chain. Also, the SSCC is an efficient basis for call-backs. It is based on the GS1-128 data structure, formerly known as EAN 128.
