What are the Instruments of Order Processing?

The Instruments of order processing are predefined tools used in the processing of customer orders. They include: Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP), Electronic Commerce and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). Essentially, a customer-oriented order processing makes of these instruments to meet deadlines and minimise throughput times.

Forecasting and merchandise management systems are also parts of the instruments of order processing because they enable demand forecasting and automate the replenishment cycle. Practically, order processing requires scheduling, order release, capacity planning, production control and material requirements planning.
