What is a Hub in logistics?

A hub is the "main transhipment base" in the logistics chain. It is a place where consignments are collected, sorted and reloaded. Generally, the hub is regarded as the central location for dealing with all the activities that are related to the movement of goods, organisation and coordination within a national and international borders.
