Quadruple ISO certification for DHL Freight

DHL Freight has been awarded the coveted ISO certifications by DEKRA no less than four times in 2021. Read here which certifications DHL Freight received and which DHL Freight units also received the awards.

In 2021, the DEKRA certification body has also awarded DHL Freight with ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety) certification for the first time. The new award is flanked by the certifications received again: ISO 9001 (quality management), ISO 14001 (environmental management) and ISO 50001 (energy management). The certificates demonstrate the high degree of compliance of DHL Freight’s integrated management system with the requirements of the international industrial standards.

“We’re delighted that in addition to renewing the certificates from last year, we were rewarded for our efforts in occupational safety with a further certificate – after all, the health and safety of our employees is our top priority. The successful certification shows that our management process focused on the health and well-being of employees and subcontractors is compliant with the highest and most up-to-date international standards.”

DHL Freight’s integrated management system is certified according to a global matrix certification process carried out jointly with the independent certification body DEKRA. The four certificates apply to the entire DHL Freight business department. That means the system covers all 61 European DHL Freight units, including DHL Freight specialist units such as DHL FoodLogistics and DHL Global Event Logistics, and Unitrans network partners in Germany. Around 325 locations are certified under the umbrella of “National and international transport, logistics and customs services and consulting”.

DEKRA Group honors DHL Freight

The handover of the ISO certificates took place on November 18, 2021 in the Troisdorf Innovation Center of Deutsche Post DHL Group. Also present was the CEO of DEKRA Certification GmbH, Dr. Rolf Krökel, who was pleased to be able to present the Certificates to DHL Freight in person: “Once again, DHL Freight has successfully certified its management systems, proving that it is able to meet the necessary requirements as a freight carrier at the highest level. We’re very pleased that DHL Freight has done so well.”

Economic success and sustainable processes are not opposites

Daniel Schümmer, Global Head of Certification Management at DHL Freight, is also pleased that a new certification has been added and that all standards were awarded again this year. “The three renewed certificates for quality management, environmental management and energy management recognize us as a high-level, sustainable company and that is something we’re very proud of”, explains Daniel Schümmer. He also emphasizes that the constant efforts in environmental protection and in reducing emissions and energy would stand out. Even more, Daniel Schümmer is convinced that they also confirm at the same time that such sustainability efforts are not in conflict with business success but that both attributes can be combined.
