Branch office Bremen: high-performance warehouse

<!--[CDATA[

In early 2019, DHL Freight will open a state-of-the-art storage facility in Bremen, offering its customers first-class warehouse logistics to guarantee fast and smooth handling as well as the complete range of standard services. The GVZ, the massive cargo distribution center in Bremen, handles an impressive amount of freight. On the 472 hectare (1,166 acre) site in Bremen's Strom district around 150 companies have some 1.2 million square meters of indoor hall space at their disposal. And right in the heart of it is the Bremen branch office of DHL Freight. This general cargo facility has 48 gates and 4,000 m² (43,000 sq. ft.) of floor space. A new, ultra-modern warehouse is currently being built about 700 m (4/10 of a mile) away. Starting January 1, 2019, customers in the warehouse and contract logistics sector will be able to use the 10,000 m² (108,000 sq. ft.) high-bay warehouse as well as a block warehouse being built there.

Full service for the entire supply chain

The new hall offers everything companies need to cope with the complex requirements for order fulfillment, picking, and supply chain management. The facility comes with a fire alarm and sprinkler system, wireless data processes, a modern warehouse management system, and controlled environmental conditions including a constant temperature of 15°C (59°F). Other examples of the value-added services on offer in Bremen:

  • Goods receiving
  • Warehousing
  • Picking
  • Inspection/packaging
  • Shipping
  • After-sales service

Connections to all European destinations

The short distance to the general cargo terminal ensures a connection to DHL Freight's entire European transport network. Services such as the DHL Freight EuroConnect - Fixed Delivery Day option are only possible with closely integrated warehouses and terminals. But they can also offer significantly later cut-off times. The Bremen branch handles about 1,300 consignments a day, weighing about 300 tons (661,000 lbs.).
