DHL Freight now supports civil emergency prevention in Germany. In November 2025, DHL Freight joined the German Federal Transport Organization (Transportorganisation des Bundes – TOB). This association of logistics companies ensures the supply of the population, the economy, and the armed forces in the event of a crisis. This is a significant contribution to supply security in Germany and a clear statement of DHL Freight’s commitment to social responsibility.

Logistics Secures Supplies in Crisis Situations

Logistics is part of critical infrastructure. It is the backbone of the economy and society, not just in stable times. During emergencies, it becomes even more crucial to supply the population with essential goods and fulfill other transportation tasks. In Germany, TOB ensures this. TOB is a voluntary, nationwide association of transport logistics companies organized by the Federal Logistics and Mobility Office (Bundesamt für Logistik und Mobilität – BALM).

DHL Freight Is a Strong Partner for Emergency Prevention

BALM coordinates cross-modal measures for supply in crisis situations on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Transport, and selects potential TOB partners. Supply security is paramount, so only high-performance transport and logistics companies, such as DHL Freight, are considered. To this end, BALM has conducted company talks throughout Germany since 2019. On the one hand, BALM informs potential partners about the tasks and processes involved in civil emergency response. On the other hand, BALM ensures that the respective company can provide the necessary support services.

DHL Freight combines performance capability with a commitment to responsibility. On November 10, 2025, Christian Hoffmann, president of BALM, and Anabela Pires, CEO Germany and Austria DHL Freight, signed an agreement confirming DHL Freight’s participation in TOB.

For DHL Freight, being included in the Federal Transportation Organization recognizes our logistical capabilities and demonstrates our commitment to social responsibility. Because for us, logistics extends beyond economic considerations. Reliability is especially important during uncertain times.

DHL Freight Improves Supply Security

DHL Freight is one of Europe’s largest road freight providers, and it has now joined the organization. Its Europe-wide multimodal network and approximately 13,000 highly qualified employees will be incorporated into the emergency response system. The addition of DHL Freight increases TOB’s capacity and strengthens its operational efficiency. These changes will significantly improve supply security in Germany.

In DHL Freight GmbH, we are gaining a highly experienced multimodal transport and logistics company for the Federal Transport Organization for Civil Emergency Prevention. In light of current security policy challenges, DHL Freight GmbH’s support is a significant step towards forward-looking crisis prevention that will further strengthen Germany’s supply security.

DHL Freight Demonstrates a Deep Social Commitment

DHL Freight is a value-oriented company. Our goal is to be a role model for responsible corporate governance in the logistics industry. This goes beyond clean, ethical, and sustainable business practices. We are part of society and want to give back, both nationally and internationally. One example of this is DHL Freight’s membership in the German Federal Transport Organization. We are also committed to ensuring a secure supply in other European countries in the event of a crisis.

I am proud that we are contributing to Germany’s supply security with our integrated transport network and operational excellence. Our close cooperation with BALM highlights the importance of strong partnerships, particularly during times of crisis. This aligns with our mission: Connecting people, improving lives.
