Why are there currently (again) so many serious truck accidents?

Almost 500 truck accidents at the ends of traffic jams or other obstacles on the road occurred in 2019 in Germany, in which 45 truck drivers and eight occupants of passenger cars died. And almost every day we hear, read and see about more serious truck accidents in which the ends of traffic jams are overlooked and there are deaths and injuries. In modern trucks, there are assistance systems such as cruise control, lane departure warning, brake assist and distance sensors that are designed to prevent accidents.
