Logistics Quality

What is Logistics Quality?

Logistics quality is a quality term according to DIN ISO 8402, which refers to the suitability of a company to provide the logistics services required by the customer. A logistics service is fulfilled when the customer receives the right goods in the right quantity at the right time and in the right place.

High quality can be said to exist when the factors and characteristics determining a logistics service are better than average. To achieve this goal, the methods of technical quality management are applied to the logistics processes. Here, particular attention is paid to delivery reliability and delivery capability because these are the two basic quality characteristics of a logistics service. Depending on the time horizon, a distinction can be made between short, medium and long-term considerations.
