Federal Office for Goods Transport - BAG

What is Federal Office for Goods Transport?

The Federal Office for Goods Transport is a higher federal authority within the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) in Germany. The office is responsible for the transportation of goods in the country.

The Federal Office for Goods Transport's central office is responsible for legal developments, planning, control and coordination of road checks and traffic statistics. Its main field of activity is road checks, which are intended to increase road safety and ensure environmental protection.

In addition, the office monitors compliance with traffic and freight traffic laws, especially the technical safety of trucks or buses. The Federal Office for Goods Transport's also carries out joint inspections with other authorities such as customs or the police.
