Starting on June 14, 2018 the whole world of football is looking towards Russia: During four weeks time, the best teams on the globe compete against each other for the FIFA World Cup. Here you can download the complete schedule! 32 teams from five continents, 64 matches, 12 venues - these are the basic facts of the FIFA Football World Cup 2018. The first kick-off will be on Thursday, Juni 14 at 18:00 MEST at the Moscow Olympic Stadium, the final will start on July 15 at the same time and place. Between these two points in time the greatest football nations will compete in eight groups and, later on, the 16 matches of the knockout stage. With Italy as the sole exception, all world champions in the tournaments history will be present. Germany as the reigning world cup champion will start it's title defense on June 17 - in what shape the record finals participant (eight times) is will remain one of the most exciting questions. Russia is naturally aiming to excel in front of a home crowd, Brasil has announced to make amends for the bitter 1:7 half-final-loss on their home turf four years ago, and reigning European champion Portugal is starting the tournament with broad shoulders. Two important rule changes may have some influence on the outcome: For the first time in history, video assistant referees will be used in case of contested decisions. And also for the first time, a direct radio link between the manager on the sidelines and an assistant coach in the stands will be legal.
