Heavy Weight Surcharge (HWS)
What is Heavy Weight Surcharge?
Heavy Weight Surcharge is imposed on 20ft containers weighing more than 14,000 kg tare. Normally, an empty 20ft container weighs about 2,300 kg and can carry a load of up to 28,000 kg. Where the 20ft container carries a load not exceeding 14,000 kg together with its weight, it will not be subject to HWS.
