Coil Well

What is a Coil Well?

A coil well is a support for coils on the truck. Usually, the trough-shaped recess is located lengthwise in the loading floor. The purpose of a coil well is to secure coils. These coils often weigh several tonnes and roll back and forth all too easily due to their round shape, and securing the coils with belts or wedges alone is hardly possible.

If the round coils are lowered into a coil well, they are secured against lateral slipping. When not in use, coil well can be closed by boards or planks, so that the trailer can be used like a conventional semi-trailer.
