GoGreen Plus: the Well-Established GoGreen Offering
Scope 3 emissions from logistics often account for a significant portion of a company’s carbon footprint. DHL Freight has long provided its customers with an effective solution for reducing transport-related Scope 3 emissions: GoGreen Plus. DHL Freight avoids emissions directly within its logistics network through carbon insetting, a principle reminiscent of purchasing green electricity. The additional costs for GoGreen Plus are invested directly and in full in eco-friendly technologies and infrastructure within DHL Freight’s network.
Insetting. Not offsetting
For insetting, DHL Freight uses renewable fuels such as HVO 100 and bio-LNG, as well as battery-electric trucks. Unlike offsetting, which involves investing in external compensation projects, insetting reduces emissions directly within DHL Freight’s value chain.
The GoGreen Plus service is based on the “Book and Claim” mechanism. While emissions are reduced directly within the DHL production chain, the “Book and Claim” system separates the reductions in pollutants through the use of low-emission fuels from their physical use locations. This facilitates the implementation of emission savings in logistics networks – beginning where it makes operational sense and is cost-effective.

The more customers opt for the GoGreen Plus service, the more renewable fuels and alternative drive systems are adopted. GoGreen Plus Flex makes this easier than ever. The Three GoGreen Plus Flex Options
With GoGreen Plus Flex, customers across Europe can easily add the carbon insetting function to DHL Freight’s core products. This allows our customers to benefit from transparent CO₂e emission reduction services while enjoying all the advantages of our trusted products.
The three Flex options differ in their degree of insetting. GoGreen Plus Flex offers three choices for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, each with a corresponding pricing model. Consignors can opt to lower the tank-to-wheel greenhouse gas emissions of their shipments by approximately 10, 30, or 98 percent. These flexible options are available for all relevant road freight products.
- GoGreen Plus BASE: insetting degree: ~10%
- GoGreen Plus SMART: insetting degree: ~30%
- GoGreen Plus PREMIUM: insetting degree: ~98%
Annual certificates provide clear and transparent confirmation of greenhouse gas emission reductions and can be used by companies for sustainability reporting. With GoGreen Plus SMART and GoGreen Plus PREMIUM, customers receive a detailed Shipment Level Report monthly, ensuring maximum transparency of the emission reductions achieved.
GoGreen Plus BASE as Part of DHL Freight Eurapid
DHL Freight Eurapid is DHL Freight’s premium LTL service. It connects Europe’s key economic regions daily, delivering shipments within 24 or 48 hours. As well as offering maximum reliability and priority, DHL Freight Eurapid includes partial compensation for the CO₂e emissions associated with the shipments. From now on, emission savings at at least the GoGreen Plus BASE level are an integral part of Eurapid. Customers who book DHL Freight Eurapid can automatically enjoy the benefits of GoGreen Plus BASE.

- Alternative transport solutions and low-emission fuels: battery-electric, HVO 100, bio-LNG.
