DHL Vienna Airport Campus is a strategically important logistics hub for Austria and Eastern Europe. By combining ground, air and sea freight options at one site, higher turnover rates in cargo volumes can be achieved as well as providing improved service.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

DHL Global\nForwarding, Deutsche Post DHL Group\u2019s air and ocean freight specialist,\ntogether with DHL Freight, one of Europe\u2019s leading road freight providers,\ncelebrated the opening of DHL\u2019s new Vienna Airport campus in late May. The\nstate-of-the-art logistics hub will combine the strengths of the three\ndifferent transport modes \u2013 overland, air and ocean freight \u2013 for optimal\nhandling and transport of goods into and out of Austria and Eastern Europe. The new DHL campus\nat the Vienna Airport adds another important logistics hub and gateway to the\nDHL Global Forwarding, Freight worldwide network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Important\nlogistics hub in a global transportation network<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prominent\nguests from government and the private sector took part in the event, including\nJohanna Mikl-Leitner, Governor of the state of Lower Austria and G\u00fcnther Ofner, CEO of the Vienna\nAirport (Flughafen Wien AG). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ideally\ncombining three sites<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Until now,\nDHL Global Forwarding and DHL Freight conducted business from three separate sites\naround Vienna. These will now be consolidated at the new campus. Along with\nsome 3,500 sqm of\noffice space, DHL\u2019s new Vienna Airport campus includes two freight terminals,\neach measuring some 12,000\nsqm and consisting of roughly 5,000 sqm for DHL Global Forwarding warehousing and handling, as\nwell as 7,000 sqm for\nDHL Freight. In order to meet the steadily growing demand for logistics and\ntransport services in the life sciences and healthcare sector, DHL has also\ncreated larger capacities for temperature-controlled goods. With over 1,200 sqm, DHL Global\nForwarding has doubled its space in this area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur\nlonger-term goal is to be the market and quality leader in European overland\ntransport, which is why we continue to invest in the expansion and further\ndevelopment of our transport and groupage network,\u201d explains Uwe Brinks, CEO\nDHL Freight. \u201cWe already have one of Europe\u2019s densest terminal networks. Sustainable construction, low emissions operations<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Design and construction of the new DHL campus focused on sustainable building practices and the use of renewable energy in line with Deutsche Post DHL Group\u2019s target to achieve zero-emission logistics by the year 2050.
