He saw his opportunity in the newly introduced border clearance for goods and founded the company Gerlach in Bad Bentheim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:60px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"708\" height=\"278\" src=\"http:\/\/dhl-freight-connections.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/1886.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17415\" style=\"width:354px;height:139px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dhl-freight-connections.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/1886.jpg 708w, https:\/\/dhl-freight-connections.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/1886-300x118.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 708px) 100vw, 708px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1886:<\/strong> Jean Arnaud Gerlach, his oldest son, and his partner Jacob Baruch all died within a short time of each other. Only 16 employees were left and half of the company\u2019s buildings were damaged or destroyed.
